the communion meditation today.  The poem "Footprints" was the highlight of the meditation.

The Walk
Virginia Salter

walking along
I heard Your voice
it was soft and gentle
yet full of power
power to caress the depths
of my very being
soothing,
more soothing
than any sound in my life

the trip ahead
I chose to travel with You
You with me
company of safety
friendship
love
the journey fine
filled with peace and joy
my strength renewed
fully revived
to a being more confident
than ever before

thank You
for this wondrous vacation
I’m returning home now,
Lord,
thank you for showing
such a glorious path
thank you
I’ll see you around
thanks again, Lord

rejuvenated
I walked alone
viewing the sunsets
whose glow was not as bright
seeking the sunrise
whose promise was now dimmed
why is my trek more arduous
why is my strength waning
why is His power fading?

not a vacation? but a lifetime,
that’s what He’s asked?
am I up to the task?

help me!
help me find His footprints anew
help me, help me
follow You

Wow, you are free flowing in spirit today! True we don't look to him as we should every step. We get distracted. Like little children that get lost from their parents in crowded places. I imagine how good he feels when we find his hand again.
Sincerely,
Rwood

Thank you all.  I must say this is not my current situation although I know I'm not exempt from this type of thing happening.  It is purely inspired by the communion meditation on Sun. 7/15/01.

Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil......
Funny, but I was inspired by your poem from a different angle than perhaps your poem was intended.  During this time of vacations for me, I was thinking more in terms of staying close to God during my vacation time rather than taking a vacation to be close to God..... but still the intent of your poem comes through, to stay close to God always.  A very nice walk indeed.  Bob <><
