In the Darkest Shadow Comes a Promise

shadows
nothing but shadows
shadows are all I see
shadows engulfing me
all is shadows

why do I think
when I only see shadows
that only dark reigns
. . . on my dismal days
. . . on my days without heart
. . . on my days when despair reaches. . .
for my very soul
trying to convince me
that light, hope . . . are gone
only darkness remains
as I stand in shadows.

Open your eyes,
open them,
see,
there,
at shadow’s edge
a glimmer
though faint,
nevertheless, there,
shadows darken to their darkest
as Light brightens to its brightest,
hope returns
when day breaks anew.

step into the light
you have merely been within
the shadow of My love
for I AM your Hiding Place

So true! He is always with us, no matter how dark the night, or day for that matter.
Even when life is at it's blackest, He leads us back into His light!

I like how you have placed your words upon the page.... kinda like shadows. It really brings out the content of your poem. And you have made a very poignant observation in that not all shadows are bad...... like to be under the shadow of God's Love. Since God is characterized by a brilliant Light, there certainly must be many positive aspects of shadows within which we can find much comfort...... thanks for giving us a new and positive view on shadows.
