Greet the Morning

I watched the sunrise from a hill.
The earth below was shadowed still,
But from the forest, rose to me,
The notes of song birds, joyously,
In celebration of the day.
I wished that people felt that way.
Paid homage to the day, apart,
From any troubles in their heart
And guiltily, I vowed that I
Would try to set all worries by
And greet the morning as the birds,
Expressing thanks with grateful words.
For I have so much more than they,
So surely I can find a way,
To thank Him for the gifts He brings
And send my prayers on rush of wings,
To where He watches over all,
Responding to our every call!

Lovely tribute to the dawn of a new day, Betty.  We have much to be thankful for and we should remember that more often.  Thanks for the reminder.

This is wonderful Betty.  I woke up this morning and the day is beautiful but I grumbled to myself that the wind is cold.  I don't want it to blow like that for my reunion Saturday.  The birds were singing in spite of it.  Love, Joyce

That's beautiful!

"And greet the morning as the birds,
Expressing thanks with grateful words.
For I have so much more than they,
So surely I can find a way."

How the birds sing to God, how the Rooster Crows every morning, we too should give Thanks to God!

Lone Wolf:  I am making a concerted effort to say thanks for the day, before the day gets going! Some days start out with a bang and it's hard to remember to take a few minutes and do this.

Trillium,

You have written a wonderful poem.... We surely can learn a lot of valuable lessons from nature.  I like the lesson that the birds have taught us in your poem.  We do have a lot to be thankful for indeed.    Bob <><
