The fog is velvet soft and gray.
It hides familiar things away.
Along the path out to the sea.
Dark shapes keep looming up at me,
Then turn into a bush or tree.

I hear the ocean's constant roar
And know that I am near the shore.
The fog bank makes a hanging wall
And I can't see the surf at all,
But I can hear the buoys call.

It strikes me this is much like life.
Blinded by the stress and strife,
We sometimes cannot see the way
To where our hopes and safety lay,
Waiting for us every day.

Just like the sun that soon burns through
The shroud of fog, He comes to you,
Reveals His world of light and love,
Sends to us a pure, white dove,
To guide us to His world above!

It's so easy to be consumed by the fog and lost to it.  Great reminder of His power and love for us.  It's always there, we just have to have faith.  I enjoyed this much!

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Trillium

With the fog so dismal and dense,
I was surprised you wandered hence.
But you continued to drudge on,
Even though all your sight was gone,
Showing Faith for a brand new dawn.

And sure enough the sun did rise,
Brightened up those depressing skies.
It's such a blessing what God did
To save you from the pain that hid.
Yes, He still Loves you as His kid.

I enjoyed this.  I just heard a tape today which talked of a scripture in Isaiah which said "Surely you are a God who hides yourself".  How true it is that God "hides" himself, not from us but for us.  He is worth the seeking required.  Nice use of imagery!

Stephen.

scout:  Thanks for your comments.
Stephen:  I'm glad you liked the poem. I think God knows us so very well, He knew if everything were in plain sight, it wouldn't compel us to follow His "road", nearly as much as if some things we had to search for.
