The forest with it's cool retreats,
It's bubbling brook and mossy seats,
Enchanted me one April day
And so I quickly stole away,
To spend an hour wandering
And listening to the wild birds sing.
Then suddenly, above my head,
I heard a voice, but what it said
Was muted by the woodland breeze
And rustling of the many trees.
I stood to look and there on high,
A group of angels floated by.
Their beauty stunned me as I saw
These perfect creatures, without flaw.
Their upraised arms and flowing hair,
Their pastel robes and faces fair,
Were such an awesome sight to me.
Their voices calling joyfully,
They drifted off into the sky,
Where unexplored horizons lie.
How long I waited, vision bleared
From staring where they disappeared,
I'll never know, but shadows deep
Had filled the woods.  Was I asleep?

Joyce:  If I thought this would really happen, I'd camp out in the woods!

Trillium,

I don't know if you were asleep or not, but either way it was a delightful experience in nature and perhaps the supernatural..... and a delightful poem as well.  I do love poems about angels.... I don't know for certain that I have ever met one, but I do know that I will see them one day.  Bob <><

Bob:  Thanks for commenting.  Unfortunately, this is not a personal experience, but something I read about that supposedly did happen to a doctor and his wife.  It did fire my imagination at least! I am looking forward to seeing angels someday too!

I really have to go where you go, first that place in Oregon now this!  I have been around the world, but i have rarely seen beauty like you describe.

scout:  What a nice comment!  I really can't tell you where the place in this poem is. Wish I could!
