My Stars
Virginia Salter

my stars and bars and railroad cars
I want to prize the world
with joy and mirth, poetic birth and liveliness unfurled

I’d love to give a ray of light
to watchers on the way
I’d love to impart a loving heart to those who seek and pray

what would my life bring to this globe
what would my days bequeath
what might my words and deeds behold to all that is beneath

the heavenly realm so filled with stars,
with comets, planets and rings
what could the likes of me endow colliding with all hope springs

oh, give to me a plan, a path
from which to pace my years
adorn me with Thy love and grace to bring laughter, ending tears

oh, it’s much too much to ask
such miracles to do
then, I, therefore, shall full concede to sharing the love of You

This is very beautiful, Vas.  I have been away for awhile, but I'm glad I didn't miss this one.  Love, Joyce

Oh, Virginia, the rhythm and the verse are exquisite! A truly beautiful poem! Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.
