The following was inspired by Pentecost Sunday.  How about some more poems to this subject?????

What Words Will Say?
Virginia Salter

is it wrong to write prattle
from here to Seattle
or should one just write consciousness?

if the word on the page
doesn’t set one to rage
should one turn eyes away in disgust?

can something be said
from the top of the head
or only deep thought come from within

might levity and brevity
fill one’s heart cavity
or should one only counter all sin

could ministry be served
with elan and verve
or must one use fire and brimstone

could only sharp thorns
seen upon Whom was borne
touch hearts with a true edge of crimson

can only poetry, prose
divulge the true Rose
when the depth of its true intention

goes beyond the mind’s eye
leading one to harsh cry
be the only strong form of convention?

might the color and light
of a rainbow so bright
touch the hearts of all willing perceivers

turning mistrust and fear
into faithful and dear
daring and praising believers?

on this Pentecost Sunday
may it be one day
that lovers not fighters convey

the Light of the Lord
throwing down every sword
then kneeling together to pray

Wonderfully written verse, VAS.  I enjoyed reading it very much this afternoon.  All glory to Him!

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

This is great VAS, I too was thinking about writing something for Pentecost but dilly dallied.  Our minister is very sincere and inspired. The church was so pretty with the tongues of fire everywhere.  Joyce

VAS,

Pentecost Sunday is not stressed by the denomination that I am currently affiliated, so I suppose that the event has come and gone and I was not at all made aware...  but, by your poetry it seems to be a wonderful time and experience in the Lord.  As for me, I would much rather experience a message of unity in the Love and Grace of God, than a message of Fire and Brimstone and prattle from Seattle is A-OK with me.  Bob <><
