TO THE MOUNTAINTOP
Virginia Salter

I ascended the mountaintop seeking Your face
and, yes, You were there
in the majesty of purple peaks and emerald evergreens

I strolled along the seashore to hear Your mighty roar of power
and, yes, You were there
in the rhythm of the surf as it bombasted and ebbed the beach

I walked among the leaves of green of the majestic forest
and, again, You were there
in the steepled height of tamarack, Douglas fir and pine

I looked into the heavens following the rain
Your wonderful promise
was a spectrum of colors before my eyes

I descended into the valleys where stream beds teemed with life
and found Your awesome presence
in every element I could see

I rested in my own backyard and much to my surprise
Your loving presence and wondrous peace
had been there all along waiting to restore, renew
that I might sing Your song.

Awesome imagery! Rainbows are one thing I miss here in the North. I don't get to see them.  Though in Colorado I was blessed all the time after a rain, and usually we'd have not only one, but most of the time a double rainbow would appear. They're most beautiful!

Good job pointing out that God is everywhere, in everything. Awesome poem!!

This is wonderful way of saying God is everywhere, especially when he resides within your heart!

Your poem's imagery was spectacular... Yes... but, the message that God can be found in the simple touched my heart.  To know that He can be found in my own back yard thrills me.

This is so beautiful!  I love the pictures you paint.  It is so comforting to know that we don't have to go to the ends of the earth to find God- He is with us the whole time!  Thank u for sharing!

I love the confirmation that our grace is with us always wherever we may tread. Good work.
