"Come On Home!"

Mother Mary sang to me
songs of faith to set me free
but I'm afraid I'll always be
remembering that day.
When the prophet said,
"The Son has died!"
The crowds rejoiced when Mary cried
and I believed I'd been denied
as I heard the Father say,
"Come on Home!"

I've been haunted by these dreams
Heaven's closer than it seems
but only by Him faith redeems
from that awful day.
When life was given
on a wood tree
and Jesus died for you and me
I wanted so to be set free
as I heard the Father say,
"Come on Home!"

I was the one on His right
as the day turned into night
and I could not deny the sight
as Jesus passed away.
When Messiah died
the earth stood still
and all was quiet on the hill
when I drifted on into God's will
as I heard the Father say,
"Come on Home!"

Very good.  I've often wondered what happened to the onlookers that fateful day.  Joyce

This is very good!  I could picture what was happening as I read it.

Bob; I really love the power in this poem...and oh the joy when I hear those words! Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

"Come on home" could never sound better than when heard from the Lord's voice.  Such a sweet poem.  Thank you,
