I was needy
Yet our friendship
Was more important
Than my neediness
I chose to listen instead
To your hearts needs
Reaching within my heart
I picked a tiny thimble sized
Nose bouquet
From a shady green garden
I found them growing quietly
Under a weeping willow tree
Unexpected surprise to me

Humbly I  offered them
Like a child's casual gift
Picked on a whim
Tiny flowers
Hidden behind rocks
Delicate dainty flowers
I plucked them
From a place deep in my heart
Where the love of God still grew

Honestly and truthfully
When I handed you those flowers
A mist rose from the garden
And a rainbow began to shine
Casting a smile
On your face and mine

Thank you God
For the miracle of friendship
For causing me to know
That even tiny flowers
Found in the shade
You water
With "Miracle Grow"

You are a precious friend indeed and this lovely poem so reflects the beautiful heart you so generously share. Love, Ellie

Those flowers, regardless how small, picked from the depth of your soul and presented to your "Heavenly Father" is by far more precious and beautiful than any flower found any place here on earth. I am sure He loved your bouquet.  Bob <><

I love the ending "miracle grow!"

Sometimes it don't take much to bring someone a smile. This was wonderful, and friendship is something to be treasured as a gift from God.

How sweet and true! God can be seen and found even in the smallest things, if we are searching and have our heart as well as our eyes open.
Very nice poem.

Thank you all, you are all so sweet. This poem was written at one of those times of exhaustion when you just feel like you don't have much to offer a friend, yet like it says deep within the love of God still grows, and it is His strength living within that nourishes. It is His love that never fails.

Little thiings mean a lot, just like your thoughtfulness for a friend.  Thank you for sharing this touching piece.

SongBird~
Yes, flowers from the heart of a friend ~
do much to bolster the spirits ~

He places us in the likeliest places ...
where the flowers grow ...

Lovely thoughts to share.
