not heaven nor hell so...

I will not praise thy name,
But more thy being,
I will not bow at thy feet,
But more at thy steps,
I will not live for thy will,
But more for thy idea,
I will not love thy master,
But more thy friend,
I will not preach thy words,
But more thy lessons,
I will not follow thy lead,
But more at thy side.

No replies?  I think this poem is incredible, I'm sending it to the top.  And until it gets a few replies, I'm not going to reply to anything else in here...
It's a shame that nobody has yet welcomed you to this forum, I had assumed you'd be welcomed eagerly.  Guess it's up to me to say "welcome to Spiritual!"

I thought the structure of the poetry was good, and thought provoking.

I don't think I agree with the sentiments of the poem (if I understand it properly)...but maybe I'm hearing  something other than was intended.

Since Message is the prime importance of a poem in my opinion, I did not initially want to respond (not that the poetry was bad- it was actually good).  Yet I couldn't bear to see Allan not reply any more!  And I did want to welcome Angelshell also. . .

Welcome to Spiritual Journeys Angelshell.

Stephen.

I think you did indeed get the meaning of this poem right Stephen.
It isn't glorifying our lords place in my heart because I believe he is glorified in the churches enough.
I wrote this to try and convey some of the feelings I have, although, altimately, not all of them.

Thanks Allan, you're a good friend.

Carly, thank you too.

Angel Shell,

You have expressed much wisdom in your short poem on life.  In my opinion, I believe this to be a worthy, modern day, wedding vow from a young woman to her husband.   I am your friend and companion and not one to be trampled over. A very good message indeed.   Bob <><

I haven't seen any of your work here before, but you certainly are a welcome addition.  Very thought provoking poem.

I'm glad to see you posting in here, Angel.  Nice poem you have here.  The structure really caught my eye.  Very nice work
