Once  I dreamed
That you rode a bicycle
While I drove a car

We traveled some of the same roads
At different speeds
Our vehicles took us
Down similar paths
But with different ease

You  had to peddle
Your way up those hills
Using much more effort
To just go one mile
Then it took me drive
One full day

I had my struggles too
Sometimes I neglected
My engine
And I would run out of fuel
And I'd find myself
Walking
Searching to find
The things that I needed
To keep the motor running
So I could get to my destination
On time and intact

No matter what was needed
It always could be fixed
By the master mechanic
He lovingly fixed it for me
Just for the asking
His service was free

His name is Jesus
He loves us like no one else can
He wants to help you stop peddling
He wants to give you a car
It will run faithfully
If you give it some fuel
The road may not always be smooth
But it will be easier by far
Then peddling a bike
Over hilly terrain

Just call on Jesus
He knows you by name
When you give him your life
It will change

Perfect analogy, My life is His...change for the better is inevitable..Love, Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Songbird,

Your poem reminds me of when I was a child...

I worked during the summers and bought myself the best touring bicycle that money could buy. I never thought that I would ever need a car.  As I grew older, I fixed up an old junker 65 mustang.  Once I experienced driving, the bike became rusty and fell apart because I never desired to return to it.  It is kind of like looking at Christianity.  One really never knows how good it is until you try it and then there is no desire to return to the old ways of living.  Thank you for your wonderful analogy of comming to Christ.  I do believe it is just as you stated.
