I planted a roadside flower today,
To cheer the traveler on his way.
Then I stooped to pull a noxious weed,
Before it could spread its evil seed.

I filled their bath and fed the birds
And helped a child with his spelling words.
I dug a well of water clear
And hung a drinking ladle near.

I wrote a poem for a hurting friend,
To help his aching heart to mend.
I ask as I kneel tonight to pray,
"What did I do for my Lord today?"

Will Your thirst be quenced at the well I dug?
Will You feel that dear child's grateful hug?
Will the birds sing more sweetly now for You?
Will the blooming flower add it praises too?

Did I help my friend and his wounded soul?
If he finds You now, did I play a role?
I have helped a traveler on his way,
But what did I do for You today?

My but this is beautiful. I am going to post this on my refrigerator. It is something to remember and think about.

Joyce:  Everything you did was for Him whether you were totally aware of it or not.
Enjoyed the poem a lot.

Beautiful! Tear of joy at having shared this with you, Joyce.  May I copy and e-mail to friends and my pastor who loves poetry?  If he should wish to print it in the newsletter with your name of course, would he have permission to do so?  I think 3 to 5 hundred people are on the newsletter list.  I just know it would be a blessing.

Thanks to everyone who read this and VAS what a loving question to ask.  Of course, you can pass it on.  A poem unread is a pitiful thing.  I would love to see the bulletin to save for my file.  If he prints it.  Love to you.  Joyce

Joyce, another beauty.  The simplicity of everyday living offers multitudes of opportunities to serve Him, and you've made it so clear in your poetic lines.  Thank you,  Rae
