(not seeing affects)

I couldn't see what others saw
No matter how I tried
Accidents and happenstance
Were the words I cried

I could not see a miracle
Not knowing how prayer worked
So, it was these very things
I so often shirked

I couldn't see how prayer would help
To bring me my next meal
Or too help to pay my bills
It was so unreal

(affects realized)

Some prayers were said and answers came
Important items found
Things that I had searched for
I knew weren't around

Instead I marked it up to chance
I shrugged it off as nil
Results I didn't see
Being of God's will

It's all in how we view affects
They're there for us to see
Even though I didn't believe
Faith is now the key

(affects seen)

Too many times coincidence
Had put me in deep thought
It was by affects I'd seen
That faith had been taught

When no affects by me were seen
I didn't have much hope
Even though we cannot see
They now help me cope

*once the affects were seen other than "luck" they brought on a whole new meaning to me. The affects were always there, I just saw them differently.  I'm not sure I even met the challenge here, this is what came to me, so I went with it.

This is an example of either seeing the affects of an unseen God, or not seeing them, chalking it up to "luck."

                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Working high upon the steep roof of a barn, the old guy lost his footing and started a rapid slide downward. Certain that he would be killed, the man, who wasn't a regular customer, cried out to God, "Lord, save me!"
Immediately, his cuff caught on a nail which was just far enough out to snag a healthy chunk of material.
With a sigh of relief, the fellow prayed again, "Never mind Lord, my pants caught on a nail and stopped me."
I wonder how many miracles we explain away.
Out of need, a prayer goes up; but when the answer comes, it is rationalized away. (or chalked up to "luck")
I know not what the future holds,
but I know Who holds the future.
I don't question YOUR existance - GOD
I like what you have written, Becky. It is a matter of seeing life through the eyes of faith. I feel blessed to have read this. I look forward to meeting your new challenge as well. love, ellie
I believe you have said it all. Many times people don't see GOD's presence. Coincidence, you say?
The day before my father died, he'd lost his hearing and was scared/upset. An old shrimper buddy of his (turned pastor), just came by that day and prayed that his hearing return. The next morning, my dad could hear every word. But, he died at 10:00 AM. Coincidence?- I think not. Miracle?- yes.
Praise GOD.
White Dove,
Your poem remminds me that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man or woman availeth much...........
not circumstance but as result of your prayer.
Such a wonderful testimony you have.   Bob <><
