for so many years I never knew you
and suddenly there you were
standing before me
so young and beautiful
so happy
unspoiled by the misery of life
welcoming me with open arms
and for too short a time
we were sisters
we were friends
laughing late at night
talking till dawn
telling each other everything
about ourselves and what our lives
had been like while we were apart
but all too suddenly you were gone
and now I stand alone looking down
at a marble slab
surrounded by the flowers
I knew you loved
tears slowly slide down my face
unnoticed
filled with despair
and lightly I feel the wind blow
and I know that everything will be okay
as I feel in the wind
a hug from God.

Isaiah 1:18

This was sad but hopeful in the end.

Be assured your friend is hugged by God as well. It's hard to lose someone, and you've written a heart tugging piece here.

Hugs from God!!!!

This is sad and I'm sorry you've lost a good friend.  I hope God has many hugs for you and you will feel happier soon.

Yes, this was quite sad.  A lot of emotion here... good job answering the challenge.

In losing one we've shared our heart with, we seem to lose a part of ourselves.  I'm thankful you felt that hug from God in the breeze drying your tears.  Thank you for sharing this.   Rae
