It has come no more, nor ever will,
A moment like that when time stood still.
An instance of awe, when without a doubt,
I knew exactly what life was about.

No outward sign for this sudden bliss,
No special occasion to remember this,
And yet through all of these many years,
I've recalled that feeling to calm my fears.

I was a child of but six or seven.
The day I came so close to heaven.
Did a hug from God reach me there alone
When peace descended, like none I've known?

I knew with out quite knowing why,
Something wonderful had just passed by.
Was I softly brushed by an angel's wing,
To feel so content in all of my being?

I told no one what happened that day,
For what was there I could really say?
My childish tongue had no words to explain
A feeling that was neither joy nor pain.

I've known happiness now and again
And I've surely had my share of pain.
But nothing has touched me exactly the same
As that long ago feeling, I can give no name.

Joyce,

I guess some things just remain better said without words,
but a hug from God is a very close resemblance.  What a
wonderful childhood experience to have never forgotten.

You have met your challenge very well,   Bob <><

Joyce; What a beautiful memory for you! i love the way you've met the challenge.

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

I find myself at a loss for words.
I want you to know this has really touched me. Just one of those happenings that you'll never forget.

I too remember a time I was calmed like no other, and I don't think I'll ever forget it.   What a feeling.

This was well written, in my opinion.  The rhyme scheme was simple and the format quite basic, but it let the reader really absorb the story fully.
This is one of the best I have read in response to the challenge.  Very well done!

How wonderful, a hug from God remembered from childhood. A treasured experiance to remind you of how much he loves you, and that he is not too far away.
Beautifully written poem.
