"Spiritual Journeys" is a marvelous place
where we can write and grow in grace
and give away a psalm or prayer
or insight we might want to share.
Friends are blessed in reading here.
They browse through scores of pious lines
of ordinary folk like us
whom Christ has praised as “true divines”.
A title of pride you ask?
or a religious and self righteous mask?
No, because it’s what he’s done
that’s offered free to anyone.
Any who believe his word
are rescued, filled, and given grace
destined for abundant life
and to bear the image of his face.
Mitred men or sacred nuns?
pastors, deacons, priestly sons?
Or those who speak with “thees and thous”
making many outward vows?
To our non-clergical relief,
our God, he has not chosen these.
His heart is for the real in heart
and everyone who finally sees
that ministry is who you are
shining like a morning star
to illuminate life’s dismal places
from hearts and hands and neighbor’s faces
not to mention pens of people
living out their common scenes,
of nurses, housewives, managers,
and repairers of machines.
And since it’s these that Christ desires
why hide our “passions” fires
in a single forum named as such
that some may fear to visit much.
We have enough to please us here
and fill our walls with truth in verses
but why not also let our light
escape to kill some common curses?
"Spiritual Journeys" is a wondrous place
where we can learn and grow in grace.
And yet this is my fervent prayer ...
that more will journey out and share.

Stephanos; I so appreciate your wonderful poem in praise of God's Love and Grace found here in this magnificent Forum. I, too, have prayed for more to come and share their faith here with us. This forum used to be so much more active than it is now. I join you in prayer for an increase here to uplift us all to higher relms of His Love. ( thank you for your insightful and inspiring responses to my poems) Ellie

Thank you for your kind responses.  I was really trying to express the desire for all of the "spiritual journeys" poets to venture out more and post spiritual things on other forums.  I know that many of you already do this.  I myself need to do it more.  I was just convicted the other day about this scenario:  The world always puts spiritual things and Christian expression "in its place" and says "it's okay if you all do that or say that as long as it is over there.  Just stay where you belong and all will be well."
And we gladly comply.  After all it's much more peaceful among "brethren" right?.  No misunderstanding here in journeys.  No criticism... but sadly no planting of seeds in hearts who don't yet know the Lord. (I know this is not always true, but it is in general)  The fact is the world needs to hear the truth of God wheter they know it or not.  Yes it has to be done more tactfully there... we have to speak less "Christianese" and put it in another vernacular.  But Oh how they need it.  And we need it too.  So I encourage all of you who have talents given of God use them not just here but spread them abroad.  Don't just put all your spiritual stuff here and reserve open or the corner pub for all your other stuff.  Post some of what is spiritual there too.  I think it will be a blessing for others.

please don't misunderstand me.  I believe the saints need strengthening and encouragement too.  There is much value in that here at Spiritual Journeys.

Your right on the money with this one! So often times my Mother says the same thing. It's nice to post here or there, but the "Christian" ones aren't really the ones who need to read it, or see it, it's the one's without.

I agree 100% with you here!
