On a crisp October day
in the year 1999
God sent an angel
in a ray of sunshine
To light the way
in the hearts of us all
To bring peace to our souls
and strength should we fall
And he shall be raised
by those all around
parents to grandparents
for love has no bounds
Till he walks in the footsteps
of being a man
And God sends him an angel
then he'll understand
That children are not yours ,
nor are they mine
They are God's little angels
His ray of sunshine
To be cherished and nourished
till they walk on there own
Guided and protected
never walking alone

Dear Suzanne; Beautiful poem of the gift of a child. We need always remember that our children belong to God, and He alone is our guide in raising them in His grace. Ellie

Wow. That really made me smile! So many people forget that children really are God's gifts. Thanks for the reminder!

Suzanne,
This is a lovely piece of Parental blessing & responsibility, and what you say is so true-we are but trusted stewards of God's manifold & tender blessings.  I think Psalm 127 goes with your poem very well.
God bless you with your ray of light,
and heaven sent resident angel to care for and also bless you in the process.
                David

To put together words & rhyme--and touch a life--is so sublime! Thank God for such precious contact! (D.L.White)

You have written a precious poem expressing a mother's love for her newborn son and for the Father.  Our children truly are gifts from God and may God grant us the continued wisdom that we have now to raise them in the ways that they should go.  God Bless You and Your Family,  Bob <><

What a wonderful piece of inspiration and a sweet reminder of the most precious gifts bestowed upon us.  As a father I know the love behind a child and I sometimes wish that I could recapture their innocense for just one more day.  Great write.
