Stones

Walking in the garden where dead people lay
With their lost memories and bones--
After all the glory of their lives passed away,
All that remains is stone...

Somewhere in the garden Mary came to pray
For she was feeling alone--
Someone in the night had taken Him away,
All that remains is stone...

He has now risen from the death and grave
High and lifted up upon His throne--
There is no body that remains in that place,
All that remains is stone...

Stones they have no feelings,
Stones they have no cares,
Stones they live forever,
Stones they know no years,
Stones they can’t help you,
Stones can’t dry your tears
When you are feeling alone...
All that remains is stone.

Lighthousebob:

This poem brought tears to my eyes. In a way I agree with you about the stones being all there is but I like to belive that not the spirit nor the body is there but the love and memories in your heart are. Those don't die and do have feelings unlike stones. You painted a good picture of Mary with Jesus. Take care.

Thanks...  Though this poem (song) has sad overtones, it is truly a poem of a great victory.  We do need to guard our hearts that they do not become as stone in the passing of our loved ones.  Though the grave-stones in my poem are insensitive, many like was Mary are still in greaving and do need to realize that we are never alone because the Lord has risen from His stoney grave and is alive within.

God Bless You,  Bob <><

I like your message.  It seems to convey a sense of "looking for the right thing in the wrong place".  Many people do that today.  THey look to the sciences for peace, instead of to the heart.  Good work.

This was a beautiful poem.  I love the way it made me think about so much more than what was written. i believe that poems should linger and dwell in your head.Food for thought  .And food it sure was. Thank you  Suzanne

I am glad that you enjoyed and your responce is very profound.  It is true that in our human nature we do look for things in the wrong places and I think much of why we do this is to calm our own minds and spirits from those things that we do not understand... Death as an example.  Jesus is our example of life after death but there are many who cannot accept this fact and go on through life believing the fantasy that death in final.  Not so... our spirits live on forever.   Bob <><

I am glad that you consider this poem a spiritual feast....  I can't think of a better compliment to have my friends come and visit hungry, to eat that which I have prepared for them, and then leave satisfactually full.  Your words are a real blessing,  Bob <><

My abstract friend I do appreciate your approval.  Talk about lingering... I had this poem (song) in my head for about 20 years and I just got around to writing it down... I do so wonder why it took so long?  Thank You, Bob <><

Dear Bob; You are surely blessed with the gift of poetry that uplifts us all and brings our hearts to the Spirit where we can know His enlightenment. My thoughs, while reading this, were of the many who visit the cemetaries and grieve because they lost the chance to love fully. A good lesson to love those God puts in our life with our whole heart.  Ellie

Bob,
I appreciate your perspective & message, perfectly illustrated in Mary looking for Jesus among the dead, and finding the stone rolled away.  And that too is an element of the picture--if all we find is stone--in our sorrows & grief, let us remember that Gog has the power to roll such stones away!
  Thanks for the touching poem,

I like what you received from my poem.  Durring this time of the year of family gatherings, we do especially think of family and those loved ones of ours who have passed on do come to mind very vividly.  As an example my grandfather passed on on Christmas day so I do remember him this time of year and I do say that I wish I had known him better while he was still alive.  Thank you for your insight and comforting words.  Bob <><

~*~David~*~

First, Merry Christmas and I hope that you received my family portrait?  You are right... When I first thought of this poem, it was at Easter time and the stone that rolled away was on my mind as well.... what a glorious addition to this poem that would make if I could include it somehow.  God Bless You and Thank You for your thoughts, Bob <><

How true this is! May our hearts not become hardened, like the stones. Death is merely a transition of our soul that lives on forever.

Excellent!!

Excellent reply!  Yes, Jesus is our example of how a body and how our souls will one day be resurected from the grave.  On that day, all that will remain on earth will be the stones.  Through Jesus, we have victory over death and the grave has no hold on us.  God Bless You and it is soooo nice to have you back again.  Love in Christ, Bob <><
