Walking up the snow covered hills,
in search of the "perfect tree,"
the beauty of the day could be seen
in every pristine valley.
The scene was made for Christmas cards,
blue spruce and douglas fir
dressed in heavy layers of white,
holding used nests of the cardinals,
who were now perched on sagging limbs.
And flakes were doing a winter dance,
glistening as they swirled ~
gently feathering our footsteps.
The steeple of an old wooden church
standing atop a hill in the distance
was barely able to be seen;
yet so clearly, the bells were heard.
As "the men" continued the search,
I stood, and watched a bunny scurry away,
and saw a doe and her fawn,
leaping to the shelter of the majestic pines.
And as I stood there,
I didn't notice the bitter cold,
nor feel the snow, nearly up to my knees,
I felt only warmth,
as if You had wrapped me in a cloak
made of soft, downy feathers;
a warmth that filled my heart and soul,
with the beauty of the season,
with the beauty, of Your world.
And as a "perfect tree" was found,
and as the snow continued to dance around me,
There, I stood.

Bonnie this is just breathtaking. You brought water to my eyes as I could stand there and envision the whole scene.

The 'perfect tree' really stood out to me.
For God has compared himself to an evergreen tree....It's leaves don't come off in the fall, it's everlasting, just like God.

Beautiful, breathtaking picture you've described Bonnie!

BSC what a wonderful feeling when in God's warmth while standing within his beautiful work in nature.  I loved this beautiful portrait you painted for us.  Don't you wish we always had this feeling of his warmth and peace?

Bonnie,
This is so light and beautiful!
And it reminded me of the time the family searched for a christmas tree and found when we got home that it had a bird's nest in it.
A sign of good luck we concluded.

When we stand gazing at God's majestic beauty, we do tend to forget the reality around us. I enjoyed the picture you penned. Thanks. Keep your feet dry.

How many tiny snowflakes did God use to make that beautiful scene?  (Perhaps He'll make something nice from flaky old me!   Your wisely chosen words made it seem as though I was there.  Thanks for sharing.

BSC,

Your pen has just taken me through
God's winter wonderland.

The warmth of your spirit as I too
just stood there held my hand.

Bonnie,

This poem is absolutely gorgeous.  A moment marked in time by here you stood in the midst of all God's creatures and the beauty of a snowy Christmas adventure.  Again, my reply is simply gorgeous.  -Bob
