Jack Frost came
last night,
with his icy, wintry
breath.
He huffed and he puffed,
and he blew hard frost
over my garden,
and turned every last
flower...
to mush!

I am thoroughly depressed!

But there is a place
he can't reach.
A place where
his nasty garden killing
breath can't destroy.

The garden I've planted
in my imagination.

For, I've decided
that spring,
and all of summer,
is my permanent
state of mind!

Jesus and I,
shall spend all
of winter,
here in my heart,
where summer never ends,
and butterflies
are alive and well,
in this garden
of eternal bliss!

Dear Ellie,
I know how much enjoyment you get out of your garden--and how much mileage it yields in inspiring you in your lovely poetry-and it must be sad to see it have to go--but you have found that perpetual garden of Faith & Love & Hope, which weathers all the storms of life and still is unscathed from the wintery blasts of life! Bravo! Viva la Summer of the Soul!!!
