I was asked to share this with all of you. . . it's something that's been on my mind a lot recently. . . and came out here. . .

today Lord,
I ask for faith
the strength to believe
to believe that you know my heart
better than I know it myself
to believe that you will care for me
no matter what I do or say
or when it seems that no one else does
to believe that the sun will shine
even on the darkest of days
and to believe that you will light my way
even on the blackest of nights

today Lord,
I ask for faith
the strength to believe
you say in your Word that if I have
but faith the size of a mustard seed
that I can move mountains
well Lord, I don't want to move mountains today
but I do want to believe that you're there,
that you hear me when I call,
that you're watching over me
and Lord, I know that you are
but there are some days Lord,
where it's hard to even have a
mustard seed of faith
so on those days Lord, help me to find
that seed

today Lord,
I ask for faith
the strength to believe
the strength that your will shall always
be done
and that sometimes Lord,
it won't always be what I want
give me the faith and strength to know
that you are infinite in your wisdom
and that you see things with eyes
that are not like mine
help me to see again like the blind man,
and help me to remember that faith
is the substance of things hoped for
and the evidence of things not seen

today Lord,
I ask for faith
the strength to believe
the power to serve
the heart to know
and the mind to understand

Amen.

Hi Sven,
Your words, so humble and desiring the very things which draws you closer to Him. I was touched when I read this in Open#10, as I am today. The poem is so beautifully written and from your heart. God knows our hearts, He supplies our needs and your spiritual need will be supplied from Him, just start believing, keep a prayer in your heart, then praise Him openly. I have found praising Him openly, unashamed, brings me a greater strength and draws me closer to Him.
This poem is beautiful. Read it aloud daily to Him, til you know it has been answered. Thank you for sharing it here with us. I have found this group can be supportive and understanding. Bless you.

Dear Sven,

The Faith for which you seek and pray is a noble persuit for which you are to be commended.  The beautiful truth is that the answer to your prayer has already arrived and is provided if such you seek. (Romans 10:17) Faith comes by hearing God's Word.
Do you really, unquestionably believe and trust in Jesus and the Spiritual blessings which are found exclusively in Him(Ephesians
1:3/I Timothy 1:14) then seek and find Him and it in and through the Holy Scriptures
(John 5:39)  and they, being inspired of God,
are able as you apply and practice their truths(James 1:21-22), to thoroughly furnish you unto every good work.(2 TIMOTHY 3:15-17)
So in in answer to your beautiful poem and prayer for Faith- I would do as Paul said in Acts 20:32: "...I commend you to God and to the Word of His Grace, which is able to build you up, and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified."
God Bless you in your Rigtheous persuits-"Seek & Ye shall Find."  David

WOW- another day of life-and here among friends!

Beautifully humble prayer Sven.  He's there, just listen with your heart, .... you'll see.  Bonnie

Sven, this is beautiful. He truly is the light of the world, but more importantly than that, of OUR world.  Each one of us has their own "world" whether it be one of darkness, or one where the candle has simply been struggling too long against the wind.
It does not take a monumental amount of belief and that is the key, it only takes that of a mustard seed.  We simply believe, and stop trying to fix everything ourselves and let Him take over.  Poets make excellent vessels don't you think?  We KNOW the joy of a pen full of ink, and the joy of letting Him fill us with belief is more rewarding.
Best to you.

Thank you so much...this was exactly what I needed today!  For some reason my spirit was weak, and God sure knows the right medicine!  You are an amazing writer.  I really really really love this!
God Bless and Keep Smiling
