I just finished this one,  I need to fine tune it a bit, but I liked it so well (for it is so much where I am spiritually) that I decided to share it.  God bless you all.

Behold our curiosities concerning ribald ways of sin,
as subtle innuendos softly drawing us to enter in
if not to rush headlong inside, at least to steal a flitting peek
and let our eyes caress but momentarily what charms they seek.
For lust would have one’s interest always stirred with eyebrows raised
to render fascination unto shameful things not freely praised
and never publicly embraced nor even in our saner minds.
For few will rally unto vice (especially to it’s darker kinds).
Because of deep foundations laid, a sin may seldom ever try
to gain your full approval and allegience to its utter lie.
It rather seeks to conquer by a compromising sideward glance,
the careless turning of your head, not yet the moving of your stance.
It knows what little weights have done to break a servant’s back
and so such mild engagements are the brunt of sin’s attack.
How men have brought great timbers down with not one mighty thrust
but many swinging motions of the axe.  And metal’s rust
has always served it’s greatest harm through speckles by degree
executing changes eyes of average men can scarcely see,
only spreading later to extend it’s dull and tarnished trail.
As parts can harbor cancers long before their natural functions fail.

Behold our curiosities and help Oh righteous God of love.
Turn these roving eyes from scanning baseborn things to search above
and find delight in thoughts made clean and swathed in holy truth
renouncing what has promised life in vain and withered precious youth.
Break temptation’s power!  Hurl to earth it’s strange yet bluffing voice!
Proud, this player’s pitch is trumped too high, so clarify our choice.
Show that Satan’s depths so called have proved mere shallow pools
most unfit to bathe in and to banish thirst, a pick of fools.
Follies have their beauties, brief and evanescent as they are.
They striate evening skies and catch our visions with a falling star
bursting on our scenes with sheens of laser flare.  What thrilling sight
is this that dies so quickly leaving us to tread the raven night.
But you Oh Lord of glories hold the universal lamp of peace.
Your right hand is effulgence.  And your promises are sure release
from all of those entanglements of lust to which we’ve fallen prey
often with our full consent.  We’ve always known which was the way
that leads into temptation and that leads us to your holy will
more bevelled unto shady realms where curiosities can kill.
Turn our yearning queries toward the mind and mysteries of you,
For unto you Oh God is every longing thought of mankind due.

He Stephen,
A lot of heart in this and surely filled with wisdom. What keeps going over in my head is, this is a good example( my example)
of; it takes (ALL) the parts to make up (A) body and (WE) make up the body of Christ. You have said well, my friend and thank you for the reminders.     Marcy

Stephanos; There is alot of scary truth here, and If we are to be fully His, we must surrender all, so that His Grace will wash away all these curiosities. Beautifully written. Ellie

Stphanos,
What a meaty poem-message you have been right in not holding back.  How well you have described the subtlness of Sins invasions in our lives- aluring, little by little and destroying our life & influence for God & good, pulling us downward.
Sound the warning near & far- the Battle rages not so much without- but truly within us all--we must Watch & pray lest we
enter into temptation's evil paths.
God bless you for sharing this with us,
                  David

WOW- another day of life-and here among friends!

Thank you for this piece so filled with profound truths. Sin, indeed is like speckled rust, or unseen spreading cancer.  To study the mysteries of God is so uplifting, heartwarming and satisfying, as the mysteries of sin never are.  God bless,  Rae

Stephanos, I don't think I've have the privilege of saying welcome to Passions yet, so welcome. This is such a powerful and intense piece. I just thank our God that His grace is renewed everyday at sunrise. I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to more.
Blessings,
Juls

Oh my, but you have surely written some truth here. Sin has a way of sneaking in very slowly. Only with the fathers help will we over come.
Great write!

Thanks all you guys for your replies.

This one had been brewing inside me for a long time.  It portrays my personal experiences about temptation and the deceitful nature of sin.  I have been in a battle and have seen clearly what sin does and how it works against us.  I hope this can warn some and save them some heartache.

It is actually a psalm which is divided into 2 long stanzas, the first being a call for us ourselves to "behold our curiosities" about sin.  It is a painful look at the truth.  The second stanza is a prayer to the God who came to save us from our sins.  He is able to deliver us from these curiosities.  And God fights fire with fire.  He saves us from curiosity with curiosity by producing in us a holy version of it which pines after the mysteries of himself.  In this way base curiosities wither and fall away from our lives.

Monique,

don't even think twice... you are welcome to share this with anyone you want to.  My aim is that someone might benefit from what I write.  I would be honored.

Stephen.
