My King

Depressed, I asked of God, “Who am I?
What is my purpose?  What is my worth?”
Kneeling on the ground I started to cry,
“Why have you brought me to this earth?”

He did not answer as you may have guessed.
Feeling hopeless and lost, I continued to cry.
To relieve this pain deep in my chest
I decided by my own hand I would die.

So I made a plan and I bought a gun.
Then tried to decide what the note should say.
That is when I remember the love of my son.
Who was I to take his daddy away?

I dropped to my knees like I did in the start,
And said, “From my hell, please God, deliver me.”
Without a word He reached down, touched my heart,
And opened my eyes so I could begin to see.

When I asked God for those questions you see,
He did not answer, for inside I already knew.
But when I asked for God to deliver me
He did, for that is His way so true.

All along I carried the answers with me,
But I was blinded by Satan’s deceptive haze.
Now in God’s light I can clearly see
I will follow Him for the rest of my days.

Now of His word to all I will spread,
And of His glories I will gladly sing.
Then when this body finally lies down dead
I shall go home…and rejoin my King.
