Somewhere... out there...

0 posted 2000-10-24 02:04 AM

why is it, Lord,
the most simple acts
are sometimes
the most difficult
to perform...

as a child,
i spoke to you often-
with innocent belief
i gave my life to you-
trusting in you
for guidance
and strength

as i grew,
things began to change...
i began seeking independence
little by little
i worked my way in
and took control of
my life

i pushed you away
yet you never left my side
though i spoke to you rarely
and always in silence
you listened intently
each time i tried

through years of mistakes
i denied your love-
trying to make it alone

tonight...
i finally let go
as a newborn child
i invited you back
to take over for me again
you waited patiently
as my words struggled out
until...finally...
they broke the silence

from beyond the darkness
i heard your reply-
"i love you, my child...
welcome home"

overwhelmed by your love
i lay weeping
at the beauty
of the stars

VL~ This is a beautiful story of a child that went astray and how all along the father waits with open arms. That child is you.
Remember to keep the Lord first on your list and he will keep you safe and warm.

Oh, Vicki you filled me up, tears flowing & I am blessed and filled with the love of Jesus as He came to you.  I love you.  Marcy

Vicky, my friend~
I don't know how I missed this beauty.
It speaks so softly and firmly of you.

He never leaves us
but let's us wander ...
then like the Shepherd He is
He gathers His sheep back into the fold.

This is one of the most touching pieces
I've seen you write.
Joy !  Joy !  Joy !

This so reminds me of the Prodigal Son.
As His arms are always open ready to take us back home.

Well done.

Dear Vicky; Oh, how glorious is this poem of yours. How patiently He waits till we finally give up the battle and fly into His arms. Then we finally open our hearts to His unbelievable Love! The glory of it all!!!
Thank you for the joy of sharing this wonderful gift with all of us here. love, Ellie

You have expressed your thoughts in poetry so near to the emotions felt when once again we feel wrapped around us the never ending and ever reaching forgiving arms of our Father's Love.  Beautiful....           and "welcome home."

There is such truth to your words my friend.  He is always there . . . all we have to do is open the door and let Him in.  Beautiful!!
