Our Way

The old road was broad in our sight;
It's pleasures attractive and bright.
They soon became dark,
confining and stark;
while the crowd laughed, ignoring our plight.

Rebelling against His commands,
feeling bound by laws and demands,
choosing our ways
we hid from His gaze
not knowing that He understands.

Through darkness of storm and of night
we fought without hope, without sight
but He came to forgive
and to raise us to live
in abundant, unchangeable light.

Now narrow and straight is our way;
we are free to love and obey.
Our Lord breaks the chains
of our sins and it's stains
that had prompted our going astray.

I sit and ponder and lift thoughts from my consciousness, spilling them forth to here, raising my lit cigarette and blowing smoke in the face of reality!

I really like this. Narrow is the way, thats for sure. The path to destruction is a wide one. You made it clear in your well written words, that "he" is the only way.

Oh, It is so wonderful to see you back! You have returned with a triumphant poem of praise too. I missed you very much! Love, Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Echo~
How very nice to have you grace these pages with your talent.
I know you've been missed.

I think of you often and lift you in prayer daily.

These are just lovely thoughts of wisdom.
His way is the way !

Thank you all for you comments, however I must say that I am not sure if I am back or not yet, so at the moment, let us just say 'visiting'.  I have missed you all greatly and if I decide not to stay back right now, you might see me pop in every now and again!  *hugs* to you all!

Melanie

I must tell you that this message today fits into my life more than you could know and I thank you for that.  Beautiful in all "he" offers us and promises us.

Melanie!!!  What a pleasant surprise this is! Sorry I didn't get to it sooner, I've started work, and just hit over 60 hours today. I'm SO tired.

I love this poem! I have missed your work a GREAT deal around here! It says sooooo much, and every bit of it truth!    HUGz
