Be receptive to God's Word
Yes let it speak to you,
For by it's Power lives are changed
And learn to live anew.

Be a Student of the Word
And of Truth, unashamed,
Handling it aright that you
May well it's blessings claim.

Rightly divide that Sacred Word
Know unto it's to be applied,
And if such is God's Word for you
By that, seek to abide.

Know as James rightly says
God's Word do more than view,
If if we it's blessings seek--
We must both heart and do!

Don't take another's say-so
But search it out yourself,
That the Faith may be yours
Promoting your soul's wealth.

There is no greater power in life
Than that which is from above,
Thus seek His Word, His Will, His Way
Be guided by His Love!

WOW- another day of life-and here among friends!
Ain't God Grand!

How very, very true.  It's sad that a number of people seem to feel attending church once a week to hear the word is sufficient.  We're to be doers of it as you've said so well.  Thanks for reading and commenting on mine, Rae

"Be guided by His Love"
David; you have put to verse the true meaning of reading scripture, and that is taking His word into our hearts and living it moment by moment. Beautiful poem to the Glory of His Word. Love, Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

David,

So true my friend.  I love these lines:

There is no greater power in life
Than that which is from above,
Thus seek His Word, His Will, His Way
Be guided by His Love!

All we have to do is believe.  Such a simple thing, but it can take years to realize.  Great writing!

Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats

Great writing, David!! Through the wisdom of your poem we find the key to open all doors.
After salvation, stay in the Word, as you so beautifully pointed out. Marcy

Show me someone with faith, and I shall show you their works also. Faith without works is like a screen door on a submarine. (Rich Mullins)

Excellent message David!

Wonderful insight in your words and you are so right in seeking the words for yourself as that is the only true way to understand.  I also liked the quote that Wht Dove left from Rich Mullins.

I can testify that you are a man who loves the Word because of your daily messages of shared Truth. Because of your love for God's Word, this poem means that much more to me as I know that you have written this poem truly from your heart.  A heart that is filled to overflowing with the Word of God. God Bless You and the E-mails are truly appreciated, Bob <><
