                  "White Feather"

                Creek seek to kill her
              For immigration is grim
           In protecting of her papoose'

From evildoers like a deer she swims
       Frightened across the Chattahoochee
She pursues for an "Enchanted Land"
Embraced in arms of Ani'-Yun' wiya
Rejoices a Great God's saving hand
       Escaped  from "White Man" ways
       Now honored in tribal celebration
       She  talks in upright posture
       In  sovereign Cherokee Nation
       As Chief Junalunska deliberates
The muse of a more perfect Union
A life at peace with God and Nature
Are her old world's fond reunion.

Bob,

This is a wonderful poem and I like our picture there.  Nice job!!

Excellent entry and one of honor to a lady that means the world to me.  I love the graphic you put up and the placement of the white feather over the right shoulder whether mistake or intentional is PERFECT.

LighthouseBob~
You do me such honor with this portrayal.
I am in absolute awe.

To use the symbolism of my Cherokee name
in the ~*White Feather*~ is a great honor.
To be borne in the arms of the Cherokee people is my birth honor.
(Ani'-Yun' wiya meaning the principal people)

Chief Junaluska was a great man for my people and I thank you
for doing his name honor.

Thank you so very much for taking the time
to research this poignant time in history.

I have printed your creation out and it is lovely beyond compare.
In love and peace we abide through the greatest Spirit of them all ... our God of all mankind.

Sorry Marge and Mark, some thoughts haunted me regarding this poem during the night and I had to make some simple but significant changes... I hope that I still meet your challenges.

Lone Wolf,

You caught me while I was still creating this poem... I hope that you read after I finished... Although with me poems are never quite done.

Mark,

Thanks for reading and noticing the white feather... I've enjoyed the challenge and your fine poems ( the ring and balloons) as well.

Marge,

I am so glad that you approve and that I have brought some honor to your wonderful name and your heritage... I get really scared about writing about other culture in that I may in some way offend because of my limited understanding.  I am sooooo happy that I have brought you honor dear friend and sister in the Lord.  God Bless You, Bob <><

...and I hope the changes have not caused too much inconvenience, I am a very fickle writer I know.

Bob, I cam back to read the reply as I ALWAYS do and I thank you for reading some of my poems.  If you are interested in how I truely feel about Marge as a friend, then there are two poems of mine in the archives. One entitled "Nation of Red" and the other "White Feathers"  I did not know how to use the colors when I wrote the later but the words are what are most important.  They should be in open 9 and may even still be in the back pages that are still up.  Once again I thank you for not only reading some of my works but for accepting my challenge and bringing me to THIS forum for the first time.  I will be visiting here more and more I am sure.

Just so well-done, Bob~
There is no offense taken in the learning of another's heritage.
Just knowing that it stirred you to learn of
what the Native American Indians went through
is enough to make my heart swell.

Reprinted ...
part of that re-arranging thing, huh?
Thank you and thanks for bringing MarkB~
here with us.
He's kinda special to this lady also.
His 'White Feathers' is also framed and on
my living room wall where yours now rests
beside it.

Am I one lucky lady, or what ?
Yep !
