Repost from Critical analysis 3/9/00

North Latitude 18 degrees 25 minutes

  Rolling seas, wind whipped brine
banshees howling through sheet and line,
Three days running without a sign
of land or man to attest his course as true
  Or gods benign.

At last the storm subsides, a setting sun
of deep red gold his guide,
  To safe harbor in Marigot
   north degrees 18, minutes 25.

The hook is down the sails are reefed
the craft secure in bay serene.
  Bone weary fatigued in soul
the Captain rests his beaten frame
On pallet  wet with salt and sweat
of journeys past perhaps to dream
When all his hopes were not the toll.

And dream he did but then awoke
to view above through open hatch
A piece of sky his dream bespoke
of blue black velvet tropic night
From which two sparkling diamond stars,
Gods eyes, did flash their pulsing light,,
  His overseer.

And from their right did trail
   a filigree,
A stardust tail, a smile mayhaps
   a tear.
It was astounding of a whole,
this life force flashing out its call,
  " You are here "

If  I could paint he thought, what a
   picture it would make.
It begged to be seen, that stark beauty
   to all conveyed.
Naught before had struck such chord
   within his heart and mind.
Should he seek it ere' again in that
same  place he'd find no trace
For it had been as much a thing of time
   as point in space.

A glimpse from God forever cast in his
minds eye, to comfort him for now he knew,
Such perfect symmetry of light and line
   of balanced contrast, regal sign,
Could only mean there was a plan,
a scheme, of which he was a part
For he could not have known such beauty
   outside a dream.

Absolutely lovely. Many, many thoughts come to mind...and once it has rested here awhile, I would suggest a repost into Open, so that all who treasure verse of this magnitude, might be able to share it as well...

so well done, very well laid out...thank you for sharing!  Since I have not yet seen your name before, a belated Welcome to Passions, and thank you for this entrance into Spiritual Journeys!

WOW! I love this! Such beauty you've described within this.
I truly cannot find words right now, this leaves me in thought of so much...
So I will leave in awe and ponder upon this.

GREAT!!

Beautiful poetry, lovely beyond words. This reads like a haunting melody. Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

WOW, I can just feel the calm after the fierce storm of this exhaused sailer as he rests in the harbor after a near death experience.  (This is quite a relief after seeing the movie "The Perfect Storm.") And then the vision and the realization that God was with him all the time watching over his fight for life with the forces of nature... This acknowlegment that God has a perfect plan for our lives, truly gives us a lasting picture of God's Love for us. God Bless You and Thank You for sharing, Bob <><

Thanks to all;Have been away {out of country] for  most of last 6 months and missed you all.A third career as a consultant caused by "whipsnade's corollary to the peter principle" " when you reach your highest  level of occupational incompetence,,carefully note the names and positions of those in positions of authority
above you and then strike"!! by outliving the *******s!!! And  I was just settling in to a comfortable retirement of reading  And writing and wine drinking.. Anyway I've found myself in demand in my particular field and can't afford to pass it up but truly hope to stay with you folks as  much as possible.{Getting client to supply me with a laptop with world wide capability... {probably beyond my technological ability.    Alle-cram sweet dear, you in particular have  been a great encouragement to me as have been bonnie, wht dove and  ellie,, don't despair you're
all to important to me and the rest of the forum. Its a  beautiful place with beautiful people....
    best regards,, Ricardo
