A Good Name

You can provide for them
their every material care;
A place to live, food to eat,
and clothes to wear.
You can take them places
that they’ve never been.
Fill their lives with activities
and teach them to win.
You can educate them
about the facts of life;
(How to be a good husband
or how to be a good wife.)
You can send them to college
for a Master's Degree.
Pray that they'll accomplish
all that they desire to be.
You can give them your life,
but still in the end...
It's the way that you lived
in which they'll depend.

So very true!  So many try so very hard for all the needs you mention, but really miss the boat on example, the part everyone can afford, and leaves the biggest impact. Thank you for sharing this well written piece of wisdom.

Dear Bob,
  How very right you are! I have always been mindful of trying to set a good example with our two sons, but now, moreso with the grandchildren..for the times have changed so and in this day & age, a loving example is the best gift I can offer them.
  I do appreciate you and so glad you spend the quality time in Spirituals. I am learning from you and the many good writers crossing my path. Thanks so much for this one, it reads flawless.     Love, Marcy

Bob; Wonderful words of wisdom, and written so beautifully as well. We are the Lord to them, we are how they percieve God as they grow. If we are loving and kind that will be their perception of a loving God. Thank you for this masterpiece! Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Another lovely poem, so full of widsom Bob. Today is my youngest son's 22nd birthday, and I'm hoping that we have set the examples that will take him through this journey knowing which path to take, and whose hand to hold....Thanks for this.  Bonnie

What a message! All material things shall pass, but what goes with you is your works.
