It was a rainy night, (many years ago) the night I drove my husband and his friend to work.  We always hopped on the express way, as it was an easier route to take.

We had a beat up Chevy Nova, which had a three on the tree. We had installed the stick on the floor instead, because the one on the column wasn't working properly.  All 3 of us crammed into the front seat, trying to avoid the stick shift.

Having got our tax return, and not having put it in the bank, but instead had the entire amount in my purse. Which of course I took with me. Having put my purse between myself and the drivers door to make room, we went on our route as usual.
Stopping at the light before hitting the express way, and it raining, my windshield wipers weren't working too well.  Being an old car, the drivers window wouldn't open for me to reach the wiper.  So before the light turned green I opened the door, grabbed the wiper and gave it a thump. By this time the light was green and off we went.

I made it to his job and while dropping them off, noticed my purse was missing.  I had asked my husband about it, and he had no idea what had happened.  The only thing he said was, "You better find it."

I think I was in more fear of what he would say if I didn't find it, than anything else.
I was in a panic! Having grown up around there, and still not knowing how to get back where I had been, without going the long way back, I called my friend.  She was at another friends house that night, and in a panic I stopped over there for her to help me. I banged on the door and windows, and was angry with her because she was moving so slow.  This was my entire life savings and it was gone! I didn't know what to do.  She did finally get me back to the spot where we had stopped. We had pulled over and cased the entire area over! There was nothing to be found! Nothing! It was gone!

I started to drive her back home, and I was a nervous wreck. The poor girl, I was nasty, and barking and yelling at her, I was beside myself.  I remember saying a prayer, asking God if there were any good Samaritans left in the world, to please let them find my purse and turn it in.  He knew it was all the money I had in the world.

Suddenly it was the strangest thing, I felt such a complete peace come over me.  And I looked at her next to me, and said it's the strangest thing, but I'm not worried anymore.  I'm totally relaxed, and totally calm. I just knew I didn't have to worry, I'm not sure if it was the peaceful feeling, or if that was put in my mind. But all of a sudden I just wasn't worried about it anymore. I knew it would be all right!

I finally arrived home, and called my mother. She told me to call the police station. I said, what good would that do? Well, to report your drivers license and such as missing.

So reluctantly I called one police station. Well, because of the area I dropped it in, that wasn't the right one, I had to call another.  I finally located the correct station, and when they picked up the phone and I explained what happened.  She knew just who I was.
She said you are one lucky person! You're not going to believe this!  Must have been right after you dropped it, a priest happened through that intersection and saw something.  He got out of the car and picked it up and brought it to us.  All the money remained in the purse, none was missing! Nothing was missing, except a pair of gloves I had gotten from my grandmother.  Favorites they were of mine, but could be replaced easier than the money. He hadn't found those.

So I had our money back, what a relief! But that feeling I had I will never forget!
And the fact that a PRIEST had picked it up and turned it in, just floored me! What are the chances, late at night, that he happened by that same intersection, just moments after I had been there? That it was him who found it and not someone else.

I was in total awe, and I think I called everyone I knew to tell them what happened.
I thanked God profusely!  I also went to visit the priest and give him my thanks for what he had done.

Oh Becky,
What a wonderful testimony of how big our God is!! Of course, it was Him and His, who picked your purse up. I am so thankful for the day to day blessings He sends our way. The most important part is that we recognise these things of God and testify, in giving back to Him. Praise His precious Holy Name. Yes, that was a miracle that your money was returned to you and I appreciate knowing how big God is, to visit our every need, in all areas of our life, even in spite of ourselves.

Thank you for this wonderful testimony, it has blessed me this morning and encouraged me even more. Thank you.    Love, Marcy

Awesome story Becky. Ya know it seems to me that sometimes our Lord has these things all set up and they happen as they do to build up our faith. Our God is truly amazing.
Love ya,

I remember that night all too well.  You were so shook when you called me and all I could say was call and report your license missing before someone uses them.  We've had so very many blessings in our lives, it's hard to say which one is the greatest.  Thanks for sharing this here.

First, I had to smile at your car's description... it sounded like so many cars that I've owned...  When I owned those old jalopies, God was doing miracles left and right just to keep them going...and those are very good memories for me.  I have also lost some things that were precious to me and I have fouind myself in a panic as well.  WOW, what a miracle that Priest was!  And the Peace that God suddenly brought upon your life... So many miracles expressed and brought to mind.  I really loved it.  God Bless You, Bob <><

Thank you Bob!  There was one other incident with that car that blew me away as well.
God has been good! He's done a lot to keep that ol hunker running too. LOL

The peace He brought that day was just uncomparable to anything else. It was something so awesome, I will never forget it!

Thanks again Bob!
God bless you!
