While we would not choose it
We'd rather laugh instead,
We're given an ability
That can help clear our head.

It is the Gift of Tears
How cleansing it can be,
Providing a release
In our hostility.

Blest are they that mourn
For comfort they shall find,
To ease a fretful soul--
To soothe a troubled mind.

In this moist display
Of an overflooded soul,
Even Jesus took part
When true sadness He did know.

Though 'tis not not often said--
Thank You God, for such,
Those the Human and Divine
Have such a healing touch.

Weeping may last the night
By those with Sorrows borne,
But yieldeth to better things
When Joy cometh in the morn.

So this thanks I give
And will throughout my years,
As part of "All things" good
Thank God for the Gift of Tears!

WOW- another day of life-and here among friends!
Ain't God Grand!

David; How beautifully you have woven so much scripture in this wise and thoughtful poem.I know when things get really tough for me, a good cry feels so good, afterwards there is a wonderful feeling of release, a feeling that all has finally been surrendered and put in the hands of Our Lord, where they belong. Thanks for this pearl of wisdom! Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

David,
Never thought about it before, crying from a soft heart or yeilding spirit; or from a heart with burdens and pain, but your poem is so true, we are blessed to be able to cry and humble ourselves before God, for which I am thankful. Beautiful message and written very well. Much enjoyed.   Marcy

David,

You open my eyes and make me think. God has a purpose for everything and after thought I agree with you that He has given us the gift to shed tears to help release our pains, joys or whatever else.

Thanks,

Janie

All except when slicing that onion!  I've read that sceintifically, they've discovered a person's in a better frame of mind for making decisions and healing, after having cried.  I'm always embarrassed when the tears of joy come flooding and try as I may, I have no control over them.  I do thank God for tears, and for you, too, David.

David this is wonderful! Something not many think of. As you've said, God gave the gift of tears.  And I'm thankful for the gift of all emotions that He's given us. For we are but a reflection of Him.

This really is so very well written and expressed! Thanks David
