The Miracle of Life

I reach for the touch of family
Dissipated in childhood memories
Gone to the hands of disease
Are my unborn brother's life
And her to the grave everlasting
Gone from my external senses
But never far from my heart
Where they live and breathe and laugh
As I cry in bitter remorse of a child
At present to face the same affliction
In the prime of my meager existence
I shall also die as my loved ones
Scramble thoughts for comforting
From emotions surpassed by grief
In continuance without my living
Or shall paranormal forces expand
The realms of the natural man
To reveal the inner soul within me
To live beyond the dreadful hauntings
From above as voices of family call
Past and present intercedings
Which inspire to live on and receive
The miracle of life from God.

You've left me astounded and a little speechless at this powerfully haunting yet promising poem. I reread to make sure I understood and yes, you said what I thought you said.
Quite effective writing, though heartwrenching, and yet I feel a great inner strength in you.

When I began reading, your poem sounded so sad! =( But I wanted to hear more, so I kept reading and found a little glimmer of hope at the end. A wonderful poem! Very personal and filled with emotion and self-awareness, I thought. Thanks for sharing it!

challenge well met, bob

The miracle of life from God."

If we believe in the Word, all of it, then we are to believe in eternal life, for it is written. Lovely poem, very touching. Marcy

Bob,

The pain, the sadness, but the strength! How devasting this life would be if we didn't know of the lush forest and cool, green pastures that exist on the other side of this valley-desert that we pass through.

God bless you,

Janie

Bob,

I'm glad you understand the emotions I tried to express.  It is difficult to articulate grief, which is essentially unspeakable... O' the joy of poetry!     I think your poem is genuine and touching.  Thank you sending me this!

Your poet friend,

Manisha

It's touching... at first when I read, because there is no stanze or puncutation... I have to read again...but no doubt...good write...emotional piece...

Rarely have I come here since my son's death.  This morning, not only did your insightful piece catch my eye, but it held deep timely meaning for us mustering our way through the grieving process.  Thanks for sharing it and for bringing it back.
