I'm feeling a deep
sadness
at the waning
of summer days.
The warm, soft
summer rains
are kissing my
face,
and I wish
I could stop time
in a bottle,
so that I could
savor this moment
at will.
In the midst of
the dark clouds,
the sun bursts forth.
Like the kid I can be,
I ran to see if there
might be a rainbow,
instead I found
my sweet daughter
sitting on the hill,
and I thought,
how much more precious
than any rainbow,
or everlasting
summers day,
is her dear face,
as she shines
her radiant smile.
This is God's most
wondrous gift of all!

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

"For where a man's treasures are, there will be his heart also."-(Jesus)
Ellie, though many things are desired and treasured in this life- some are things/some are relationships/many are fleeting/few are
ongoing--it looks like your heart truly is in the right place!
God Bless you, and your precious family,

Dear, dear Ellie, This is just so YOU!!!  And oh, does your heart shine in this.  A beautiful poem to start my day, I could see the whole scene.  Thanks.  Bonnie

I like the flow of this poem.  It just glides across my mind, brushing the corners of my memory ever so gently.  I also, love the part of the little girl.  I have a little girl and I know how precious the thought is.  Thanks for sharing this.

Reading your poem title, I was expecting a rainbow, but I was surprised to find a little girl sitting on the hillside... What a color filled warmth these young ones bring into our lives.  Thank you for sharing, Bob <><

Your daughter will treasure this poem so much and some day show it to her children. I'm sure she already has a treasure chest full. This is so lovely, Ellie
