I wrote this for my troubled 19 yr old brother. It's pretty much an account of his life except the end which I hope will come true. I've given the poem to him, but no signs of change yet.

THE PRODIGAL SON
Written by Janie for Thomas

A girl, so young; a man, "around"; the two, in passion; love, not found;
Of this, created a baby boy, they should have known his joy.
Instead, another man and wife, waited for this brand new life,
In him, already hopes begun, in him, they'd have son.
Waiting too, another, still, all a wonder, patience willed,
A brother she would have to love; gave thanks to God above.
His first coo, his first word; more precious things never heard;
The baby boy, the bright, young star; in him, dreams would go far.
Time marched on, he, to its tune; he grew up, big, much too soon;
Though loved so much, began to doubt, what life was all about.
With doubt, his demons brought torment, his anguish seen; family's lament.
Feeling scared and all alone, he moved away, though still at home.
Through out his fight, all the while, thru disappointment; self-denial,
His sister prayed for him to see God's love would set him free.
Years went by, he struggled alone while his family, carried on.
Their deepest pain, he didn't know; their heavy hearts filled with woe.
Then, one day, God made it be; for him to wake, to finally see;
The demons cast from his soul's reach, only God's promise left to teach.
He learned with God, he's not alone; no matter where, he's always home;
With this, he learned to overcome; the demon's work was all undone.
With open heart, received God's word, truth was known, God’s voice, he heard,
Then, in spirit, he was born again and stepped from darkness to become a man.

(Mark 8:33)  “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.”

You have stepped out in faith to write this for your brother.  I believe that you are looking through the eyes of faith and have seen the end.  You have spoken those things that are not as if they were already, and I am believing with you that they will be done in Jesus Name...   I know that you will soon have a good report.  God Bless You, Bob <><

If it's meant to happen it will. . . we must believe it to be true. . . faith will indeed see you through. . .

Excellent writing. . .

Janie, this is a wonderful testimony--if not of the prodigal, yet to return to his senses & his Father's House-it is a great testimony to a Loving, Caring, forgiving, uplifting Sister who seeks so much her fallen brother's well-being, which through the eyes of faith knows can come about.--keep on encouraging & praying for him & we will join your prayer for his true Homecoming & spiritual manhood.    David

WOW- another day of life-and here among friends!
