With snail-like slowness
Mankind moves ahead
Increments so small
So many have bled

One has to look back
Hundreds of years
For any sign at all
Marked with human tears

In this century great
Emulation of the master
Has been seen from Gandhi
And M. L. King Jr.

We should always remember
The original who came
With His Father's blessing
And took for us the blame

I don't think it's preached
In any church of prayer
But I believe it's so
He taught His Father

From Noah up Herod's time
Massive force is not the answer
And so He died to teach us all
So I too am His follower

I continue to be 'tickled' by the formal "Mr Yeats" - you can always get a rise out of me with it   I'm glad you read my message as I intended - and I feel sure we follow Him

Passive Resistance?? Sounds a bit like Compassionate Conservative.  These words just don't seem to go together... But, after reading your poem, I can understand a little more clear how through time mankind has been very layed-back and has resisted the ways of our Creator.  Thank you for sharing,  Bob <><

"compassionate conservative"? hardly! I see the coming election as choosing between the lesser of 2 evils - as I have in many elections past. I am a fiscal conservative and a social liberal - as I think "He" was.

I vote against corporate money and try to find the most 'populist' candidate - Unfortunately I do not see Ralph winning.

Frankly I see the major candidates both as hypocrits and will count on neither (if elected) as doing much to further humanitarian causes - as I believe a true christian would try to do.

Ok - now I'm off my soapbox -   thanks for reading

I follow shall follow Him in reverence
As long as I shall live
And I'm becoming a bit each day
More conservative
(No soapbox, it just rhymed)
Your poem is of concern, that many I think have forgotten the original. I did until I found Him again
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
