Heard

Early on an October morn
surrounded by strangers, a baby girl was born
though the days and years sped so fast
my parents tried to make them last.

When I grew up and moved away,
they were left with only pain.
They soon learned of the life I was caught up in
The abuse, danger, and oh! so much sin!
As hard as they tried....I did not seem to care
so they cried out to Jesus...and he was there!

From a teenage marriage, there were two baby boys
but, at my young age, I saw them only as toys
I kept living my life just as I pleased
while they cried out for love they so desperately needed.
I heard them, but I did not care
but Jesus heard....and He was there!

There was another marriage, it came, it passed.
I knew all along, it would not last.
I now had a daughter to join my sons
and then I found myself...to be all alone.
I needed change!...I cried out...in my fear
I cried for my children...Oh! so many tears
I thought no one cared.
I later found out that Jesus was there!

A new hope, a new love, entered my life
and in time, I became his wife...
Through many troubles, through so much pain
we stayed together and vowed to remain.

We had a son...our life seemed complete,
but soon it came crashing down....
around our feet.
It seemed that after all was said and done...
we had fallen apart and were no longer as one.
We both cried out...in our despair
and before we knew it...Jesus was there!

To me, it became quite clear
that throughout my life...Jesus was near!
I must confess in this life of mine
I thought I knew best....and I realized
that in my entire life, I had never been near
to happiness... or love....held back by fear
Then on a September day...
I walked up to an altar and I knelt down to pray.

My heart was broken and filled with such fear
I heard Jesus cry out, "My child...come here"
My life was placed in his arms with such tenderness and care
He promised me he would always be there!

Because Jesus took away my burden of fear
I cry out for you
I am asking Jesus....to
"ALWAYS KEEP YOU NEAR"

Gidget this is wonderful. And it's so true, there is no real peace without Him.
Bless you,

Giget, This is so beautiful, the way you wrote it. Our lives can be full of torment
until we let the light shine in.

gidget, this is so moving and powerfully written. Thank you for writing and sharing this with us. I'm so thankful you made your way to a alter. There is nothing, nothing that compares to being under the blood of Jesus. Wonderful poem.    Love, Marcy
