If I knew the incontrovertible truth,
I would follow it.
If I knew that the WORD
as presented by a multiplicity
of voices claiming the absolute,
I would bow to it.

Since the essence
of my soul's journey hinges
upon this crucial issue of truth,
I must KNOW.

As it is written:
'Ye shall KNOW the truth,
and the truth shall set you free.'
What then, constitutes KNOWING?

This bothersome and oft' times
quarrelsome question rages throughout
all religious circles.
The Israelites in Messiah's time
thought they KNEW the truth but
were way off the mark;
the Shiite Muslim and the Sunni
Muslim differ on what is the truth
of their doctrine;
the Hindus have a pantheon of Gods
whose adherents avow to be worshipping
ONE, but who is that ONE?

This list could go on and on, and on.
Yet the question still stands:
How do I KNOW, beyond all
shadow of doubt, what IS TRUTH,
and perhaps more importantly,
how do I KNOW who is sent to tell it?

HOW DO I KNOW?

Dear YeshuJah,
Very thoughtful & of course, well written questions in verse form. I assume you are soliciting answers from whomever chooses to share their particular beliefs. I would love to. I believe in One God, Creator of heaven & earth and all living things. God sent His only son, Jesus, the messiah, to earth where He died a horrible death on the cross giving us free will to choose salvation's plain, being saved through Jesus and living life eternal in heaven.

Yes, this is kindergarden, but regardless how worded one puts it....Through Jesus, we are saved. That is not the half of it--so must more "through Jesus", but one must come to accept Jesus first.  Thank you for this opportunity to share my faith.  Love, Marcy

Such strong questioning shown in this poem, very well done.  I believe that the answer can only be found between you and your Creator, you will KNOW when He shows you the truth.  But that's only my opinion   This is a great poem.

This is a good poem and the questions you ask are valid. Many will never know the answers to these questions because they never take the first step which is to "seek" the truth. I believe anyone who seeks the truth will have it revealed to them.

If this is something you are struggling with there are 2 books I've read recently that may help you. The first is called "I'm Glad You Asked"  by Ken Boa and Larry Moody which gives in-depth answers to difficult questions about Christianity. The second is called, "Who Moved The Stone" by Frank Morris who was an attorney who set out to disprove the resurrection and in the process discovered so much compelling evidence that he became a believer.
Good luck to you in finding the answers to your questions.

Janie

As always, you have posted a most provocative query. I fully expect that when you have the riposte, my friend, you will put that here as well, to share with us all, for never should we go without sharing, learning, and giving.

regards,

This beautifully written poem evokes very profound questioning. The bible tells us "seek and you shall find".
God will reveal Himself to you if your heart is humbly seeking Him. This is a certainty.
You will then know the truth and the truth will set you free. Be patient. He will come to you in His timing. Ellie

calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

To all who read and responded to this poem, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the care and concern you showed. This is a struggle, as one of you pointed out, that will only become clear as one comes into contact with the CREATOR.  Thank you all.

Because you seek, you shall find. I believe this with all my heart. Our Lord says in His word,"those who seek Me shall find me". And to see a hunger spirit searching for its creator is so beautiful.
God bless you,

Jesus said, "Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."  I just keep pressing on in prayer and Bible reading in order to get close enough to hear...
...and to hear His voice only.

God Bless You,  Bob <><

That was a very thoughtful poem.  I enjoyed it a lot... Thank you.  You gave me a few things to think about.

The only way you know for sure is to get the tools to study on your own. To always check it out against God's word.

I know what this speaks of because everyone thinks what they have to be the truth!

There will come a time, when Jesus returns, and it states that we shall not have to ask our neighbor if he knows Jesus.  We shall all know the truth, and that shall come straight from Jesus himself.

Just follow the WORD!
