Addiction Excuses

Why are you alcoholic?

I drink because I like to,
My friends all drink the same.
     I admit, I'm alcoholic...
So, I can't really be to blame.

Wrong, it's the alcohol in you.
Why are you a drug addict?

     I relax by smoking pot,
A reefer after a long day.
     They say, I'm an addict...
But, I don't care what they say.

Wrong, it's the narcotic in you.
Why are you a porn addict?

I have a strong sex drive,
     I enjoy human bodies nude.
I believe in having great sex...
     Sex, isn't degrading or lewd.

Wrong, it's pornography in you.
Why are you a Christian?

     My friends are all Christian,
I belong to the same church.
I love the Word and praising God...
Yes, was His answer to my search.

Wrong, it's Jesus Christ in you.

Bob,
I wish I had adjectives super clever to post describing the quality of this poem. I have none that are adquate enough. I have a son, (grown) who attends A.A.; with your permission, I would like to print this out, make copies for him to hand out. Keeping your name with it, of course.
This is from the Master's Voice, what a Youth Camp meeting you must have pleasured.
What a light you shine forward with "Jesus, in you". amen.

My friend, I enjoy drink.

I would rather enjoy all of your words...

Jesus enjoyed drink...

let them that need, be heard...

May I pass this on?  Well done, my friend...

Alle'cram and Sunshine,

Most definitely.... YES!  What a blessing that this poem might make a difference in someone's life toward recovery from an addiction.   God Bless You Both, Bob <><
