Where, oh where,
is the power of the ages
that can alone unlock these cages?
That can alone stem this
tide that surrounds us, is beneath us,
within us, above us, beyond us!

Where, oh where, is he who
spoke to the sages & prophets
in visions & dreams?
In the quiet of the night
when nature seems locked up tight.

The people pray and sing, and wait,
and fast, and rebel;
exercise faith, exercise doubt.
Cast here, there and about.

Preyed upon by vultures who
fly high but see low;
readily equipped with their arrow and bow
they pierce those who don't know,
feeding upon their flesh but first their souls.

All in the name of religion,
that aged suit of deception.
Masking secret agendas in the name of salvation;
on a trip that can lead no where but to damnation!
Oh my soul! oh my soul!
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God
and be made whole.

Depart from this haven of organized pimps
and sanctified whores!
Then be still and listen--
Learn to listen,
to the voice which is heard and
unheard all at once.

Which needs no intermediaries
between it and you;
which on your soul will not pounce.
In which, indeed, you live
and move and have your very being;
whose soul's the window from which
you're continuously seeing.

Look upon the miracle of the sea,
a tiny baby, the beauty of the rose, the flower!
And feed, my children, feed upon
HIS everlasting power!

YeshuJaH, Very profound and moving! You speak of the things all around us as distractions when serving God, but you also reveal the answer to detour these distractions, "Seek ye first the Kingdom Of God". You have done a good job putting these thoughts to poem. You made me stop and say a prayer to Jesus, asking better disernment where these matters that you spoke of are concerned. Least we not judge but extend a understanding hand to our fellow man, that we treat others as we would want them to treat us, always keeping His Word written on our hearts and through our lips. Nice and thank you for the meditation and personal inspiration your poem provoked. Marcy

Seek ye first the kingdom of God. There's the key to everything. I really enjoyed this.

Marvelous the way you managed to incorporate so much scripture here and have it flow so beautifully in words of wisdom and praise.
Truly inspiring! Thank you. Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.
