   Pharisees

You are all such miserable comforters,
I know this beyond all doubt.
You swing your so-called knowledge
Around, but it’s love you live without.
Taskmasters who lay their “heavy yoke”
Here upon my neck,
Then say, “you are rebellious” because
I do not join your sect.
Loving God and loving man is chucked
Right out the door,
Reducing God to your traditions, to
A dreadful temple chore.
Don’t insult the living God by making Him
Just like you,
He’s tired of your religious games
“O ruler’s of the pew”

Reading a few of your offerings, it appears you've been very hurt.  I'm sorry if you have. Don't throw the towel in because there are a lot of wonderful caring people (like the family on this forum).

Dear sandgrain was it that obvious or are you really perceptive? (lol). I haven't toss the baby(of new life in Christ) out with the bath water(the place where the love of Him is suppose to dwell). Full of pain, hurt and dissapointment but never In Christ who works all things out together for our good and for His good purposes. I'm lonely. I can't seem to find my place...Yet I'm still hopeful, we have a Good Shepherd who is the lover of our souls! What would I do without Him!

Thank you for your words...Love FacesinHim

Good description of the Pharesees!! Nicely written and from your well versed poem we are reminded to love and seek Him, love our brothers and sisters in the Lord, don't be like the Pharesees. Thanks for this one.

I can certainly understand why Jesus spoke in defiance of those Pharisees...  They are sure a thorn in the Christian's side.  You have described Modern Day Pharisees quite well...  I loved that part, "Ruler's of the pew."  Wonderful.  I hope and pray that God will show mercy to keep the Love of Christ alive in my soul as to view and love people as he does.  Bob <><
