I walked into my room last nite,
and with a start I felt at fright.
I had this smell and it was not clear,
but I could swear a child I hear.
This is a rather old one by me, but, I had to take it out, dust it off and read it again recently...
Hope yu all enjoy.
A.

I looked about, and saw it there
in the corner, she sat, a blank stare.
I asked what the matter could be
and a tiny face looked up at me.

Her voice was old, much older than mine,
but I thought I knew it well, all the time.
Her eyes were big, yet very sad,
and just to see that made me mad.

She picked herslef up, and took my hand,
and she wiped the tears- I do not understand.
She gave a little hurting smile,
and I puller her up, held her tight for a while.

I do not remember too well what she said,
I do not remember, I shook my head.
I just fealt that in me something broke,
I do not remember, I felt all choked.

She then once again sat down and said:
"Darling, I am you, the child you forget,
I am you , I am your regrets,
I am you, you have forgotten me-childhood shreds."

I was shocked, and I was to blame,
the child in me I have shamed.
I promised again, to her and myself,
that the child in me will shine in health.

I looke dat her, and her face was bright
and from her eyes shone a great light.
I once again held her close to my heart,
and I knew a new journey were to start.

I guess what I with this will say,
dont ever let the child in you go astray.
Life is but as good as yo see,
who then is better to enjoy it, than the CHILD IN ME!!

Ardonida - This is wonderful.  I guess there is one of those kids in all of us, found mine not too long ago, and am so glad that I did.  Thanks for sharing this.  Bonnie

For me a very refreshing journey back to the innocence of childhood...  A gentle reminder that unless I become like a little child, I cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.  Thank you,  Bob <><

Bob and Bonni,
I am glad that you have enjoyed this. This was brought on by my almost 3yr old daughter...

Sure enough, a little one made you think of getting this out.  Didn't Jesus say a child would lead us?  Children have a way of tugging at our playful younger selves and thankfully because of it we enjoy life far more. Nice piece.

WE are to good at growing old--but staying young takes effort and determination--we might not be able to turn back the hands of time--but we can call back our youthful resign.
I loved you poem here--you might want to read the one I will be posting i the pub about 2nd childhood in a humorous vein.

I think as we get older we sure do lose the child within. I know I have put mine on shelf somewhere. Thanks for the reminder!
