Desert Weed Planted in desert sand as a meek and lowly seed rooted in tumult soil, none knew that God would lead a sprouting stalk so humble to make desolation heed. Not with piercing thorn nor bramble, but in the light of a bruised reed grew an orchid incognito disguised as an ugly weed. Alone in wind swept land as the weed hung drooping head submerged in climate's toil, none knew that God had said a stone who's causing stumble would resurrect from the dead. Not with urgent crawl nor scramble, but in Spirit by whom was led an ugly weed to bloom an orchid from a desert flower bed. -Robert E. Michaud Jr.- |

This is very good! I was a pain in a lot of Kansans' sides when I first came here and commented on the beauty of those "tall purple flowers" and "small white flowers that look like miniature morning glories" ... if you've ever been through here, you know I'm talking about noxious muskthistle and bindweed! Bob, Your poem here is very pictureque and strriking. It rather reminds me of the prophetic description of the Christ as the suffering servant, as found in Isa. 53. as without form or comeliness a root out of dry ground- (v.2). Yet as the ending of that grewat passage predicts he in his faithfulness becomes that altogether lovely redeemer ,sin-bearer,and divine interecssor. __Lovely poem-lovely thoughts,Bob Thank you, David "GOD GIVES- but man must open his hand." Sometimes we can only see the outside and not see the "orchid" (Risen Christ) living in those we come in contact. a sandgrain, What a lovely name... Sad, but true we do not always recognize Jesus in the obscure, but He does reside in the simple things... Like a grain of sand. Lovely name.
