Barabas or Jesus--
Which will it be?
The innocent released
Or the guilty set free?
These are the choices, I'm giving thee
Choose wisely now, which shall it be?

The choices thus offered
By Pilate that day,
The angry mob resisted
In going the right way
Crucify Jesus, and give us the other,
We want him not as king nor brother!

By God's foreknowledge
He knew how they'd choose,
Had prophescied such
And to that they were true--
True to the wrong their sinfulness sought,
Fulfilling unknown the true Plan of God.

Barabas or Jesus?
To us, now is posed,
Shall we choose the right
Or shall we side with those?
Thus willfully choose for us what is wrong,
Leaving Jesus, unchosen, alone.

But here's the irony
If our choice, Jesus be,
Innocence can be released
As He sets the guilty free!
For those freed by Him, are free, indeed,
Forgiven and blessed, as Abraham's seed.

By each of us
The choice must be made,
To be lost in sin--
Or by Jesus saved.
Barabas or Jesus?-repeat not history,
Chose the Blest LORD-and let Him bless thee!

"GOD GIVES- but man must open his hand." (German Proverb)

David; "for those freed by Him, are free indeed" ....I love this line. You've done a superb job here. A choice made 2,000 years ago is still spiritually timely today. A choice our hearts need make every day!
I love this poem. Beautiful, David. A great one for the book! Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Glad to see that not only your computer,
but your poetry is up and running as well.

If I received justice,
truely, I should die...
But by the Grace of God
as Barabas lived go I.

Thank you for another well written composition...   Bob <><

Another great piece, David.  We need to be reminded often that we are actually making choices when we think we're merely strolling the only path in sight.

Unique way of putting it David! I'm so glad we each have a way of looking at things, so we can all get different perspectives!
This was a great reminder, and I thank you for it!
