Everything is very still.
The sky is growing darker.
Insects and birds
are nowhere to be seen
or heard.
The air heavy with moisture.

The quiet is profound.

The scent of the garden,
heightened in perfumed
essence.

There is a sense
of waiting,
of knowing,
that rains will pour.
Storm is imminent.

A breathless anticipation.

Just when we think
we are happy,
and at peace,
with our lives.
God
loves to send
His storms of Grace,
to shake us
out of our complacency,
into
new adventures of Grace,
and self-discovery.

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Oh Ellie, How your heart shines in this poem.  His grace certainly does rain down, doesn't it?  This is just beautiful, as always.  Bonnie

Very nice Ellie, enjoyed it.

Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.

I like the way you end this.. 'new adventures of grace and discovery.' I doubt Job saw it in that light, but that is exactly what it is.  I pray to have that sense of spiritual perspective when I'm taken there.  Thanks

This is so great. It's raining here and I can feel the rythym of your words moving through the rain. Beautiful.

Right before a thunderstorm, when I was a  little girl, my mom would always say "Look at how quiet everything is outside..it's the silence before the storm".  To this day I still think of her words when it is about to storm...funny the things you remember!

Ellie, such a time could be one of tension and fear, but because of your deep faith, you await the pouring of God's grace.  Bless you.

I was in a hush of anticipation as the storm of Grace iterrupted my spiritual complacency... Yes Lord, move us all from our safety zone.  A very-very moving poem indeed.

Ellie,
I'm running out of superlatives- befitting such wonderful words-concepts and pictures which you so skillfully craft and share. And so true your words speak-Calm is not always the best for us--the storms of life can help us keep advancing on our journey--God blessed us with you-and you with a wonderful expressive ability.  God has blessed us all,
