How Much?

As the collection plate is passed,
I hear the congregation sneer...
But in my time of offerings,
I think of you only dear--

I watched you as you slept,
I rocked you through your dreams,
And as from a nightmare you awoke,
I comforted your screams.

I opened up your window
To view golden morning skies
And as sunlight lit your cherub's face,
I wiped the tears from your eyes.

For your life I endured
Sharp pains within my chest
And as milk flowed free for nutriment,
You supped upon my breast.

I held you close for hours
As many your suitor came
And as daddy sung in nursery rhyme,
I whispered out your name...

Now, as I pledge on Sunday,
My offerings to give--
I ask myself, "How much?
Would I have paid,
If only You should live."

You ROCK Bob! This was great! Should be posted on every church's front door from here to there...

This is great!  So often people try to separate their money from their faith. If God isn't controlling our wallet, we're not living in His will.

Dear Bob,
Wonderful. The price has already been paid, hasn't it? Jesus paid the ultimate price for us, and yes, he does live. Your poem gives true meaning to our selfishness in giving of ourselves and to the church. Thank you so much for this one. Awesome! Marcy

I agree with the othe sentiments Bob.  This is the BOMB!  I'm not one for giving cash offerings but this drew me a little bit closer to the plate. Thanks
