Greetings all.  I have never posted in this board before.  I'm usually over on the critical analysis side.  But I thought I'd share this poem here.  I wrote it a long time ago and this is actually its first exposure.
--------------------------------------------------

Just This One Thing

Let us dispense with philosophical posturing;
with endless theorizing, and round about reasoning.
Let us speak always and only of Messiah and his love.
Let's praise His name and be thankful
that He came from above.

Speak not to me of the so called great men of this earth.
I don't care to be impressed by what you think they are worth.
Speak only to my soul, about the sweet Rose of Sharon.
Let His name be lifted up, he is the sinner's champion.

Seek not to use your talents for earthy and foolish pleasure;
remember, wherever your heart is there also is your treasure.
Besides, only what's done in his name, will last forever.
Don't be fooled or blinded by the devil, this is not a game.

Seek not to embroil my mind in endless debate,
while souls are being lost and the hour's getting late.
Teach me instead, to seek out the lost like Messiah did.
He spared no cost or effort for the souls of men to bid.

Don't seek to pacify my soul with songs that shout His name;
if you know, deep inside, all you're seeking is vain fame.
Lift up the name of Messiah with sincerity and gladness.
For to trifle with His name is tantamount to madness.

Do not use the time of prayer to impress
the ears of those who hear.
You bow before the awful presence of Him,
by whose name the angels swear.
Instead, lift up the name of Messiah with humble spirit.
Before Him you're a sinner saved by grace, and not by merit.

Do nothing in His name to further personal agenda.
Do you have a dream? Or a vision?
Then to his will surrender.

Oh!

Come let us worship Him in the beauty  of holiness.
Let us praise His name with pure hearts,
and worship him in singleness.
Offer in his presence a broke and contrite spirit,
and he guarantees by his word that you'll
receive forgiveness.

Though I've enjoyed your poems in CA, I am looking forward to reading your artistic abilities here as well.  Yes, May God Deliver Us...    A very nice first post here at Spiritual Journeys.

wonderful and inspiring first post here.
Please stay and give us more of your wonderful gift. Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

I see your name reflects His   cool

I liked this very much. It's straight forward, and clearly states it's message. Certainly a wake up call, and a great reminder to stay in His will, and not our own. All things will pass except the things that are of Him.  You've spoken much truth here...I find this stanza especially stands out to me...

Seek not to use your talents for earthy and foolish pleasure;
remember, wherever your heart is there also is your treasure.
Besides, only what's done in his name, will last forever.
Don't be fooled or blinded by the devil, this is not a game.

Great writing, and I do hope you'll post more for our viewing! Welcome!

To all.  Please forgive my lateness in getting back to your comments.

Ellie, thank you for your kind words.  I plan to come in here as often as possible.

Sandgrain, to JAH be the praises if these words have inspired you. Thanks for the welcome.

Dove, the WORD is a light and a lamp unto those who trod this path, and you are correct. Only those things done in HIS name will last.  Thank you for the encouraging comments.

BSC, thank you for your comments. I am glad you could find inspiration in the WORD.

My Love to all.

Wow! What an entrance to our forum. Your poem speaks from a passionate heart on fire for the honor and glory of the LORD in our strivings which seeks not to be derailed by the vain pursuits of men.It is clear, full of conviction and sweetly pleading adherance to those things most important.
Thank you for sharing your faith with us,
God Bless you,    David

This is a treasure to read. What truths you bring forward to us in this most beautiful poem.

"Let us speak always and only of Messiah and his love.
Let's praise His name and be thankful
that He came from above."

I am so thankful that He came and gave His life for us, that we may truly live, now and in Heaven, eternally. Very beautiful, indeed.
