God, Did You Do That?

I thought I heard a twittering sound
Behind a bush, on leafy ground
I knelt to find from where it came
And as I did, I saw it plain
A little baby bird

I heard some thunder in the air
A sudden breeze swept through my hair
I looked up to the darkening sky
With spears of lightening drawing nigh
What of the little bird?

Just barely fallen from its nest
And not a single day to test
The dangers of the wide, wide world
And not a feather yet unfurled
A helpless baby bird

I watched the rain gush down the spouts
And leaves were blowing all about
With gusty winds and thunderous roar
The trees were bent in heavy pour
I wondered of the bird

No little bird could well survive
In treacherous rains remain alive
Without a feathered wing to fly
And rivers pouring from the sky
To drown a little bird

I waited as I paced the floor
In want to open up the door
But gusts of wind were too intense
And there was no one in defense
Of a tiny little bird

The storm, it seemed, had finally passed
I sped out of the door at last
In search of that one little friend
It seems the flooding was his end
And not a sound I heard

Just droplets falling from the trees
I searched as I got on my knees
The baby bird had disappeared
Into the gushing rain I feared
Til a little tweet I heard

A piece of spout had blown away
Behind the bush it made its way
Providing shelter for my friend
And waddling out the other end
A happy little bird

Read this to my granddaughter this morning.  What a great start to the day, knowing our Lord provides even for the littlest bird.  Nicely done.

Just reflecting on my own life and some encounters that I have had with little birds and how God used the birds to speak truth into my life....  It is amazing how much we are like little birds in the hands of our Creator.   Bob <><

Liz this is just so precious! This reminds me of a bird that I saw in Georgia. It was hurt, as part of it's claw was hanging off.
It sat in a tree at eye level with me. I approached the little critter carefully.
I then got that part of it's claw off, and put some neosporin on the end of it. It was funny, as it just sat there and let me do what I had to do. When I was done, it sat for a moment and then flew off.

I had long forgotten that until I read this. Thanks for those precious memories! How awesome our God, as He does provide for all!
God bless you abundantly Liz!

God looks after all of us, right down to baby birds. Thank you for giving us this beautiful reminder.
