Years spent in prayer,
fellowship, meditation, praise.
Hours on my knees, crying,
begging forgiveness,
enlightment, healing, love.

Sunday morns at the pulpit,
teaching, preaching, reaching.
Spreading the news of your glory,
and searching for the same inside.
Sunday afternoons on my knees,
begging for conviction, truth.

Bible study, classes, prayer meetings,
sharing with parrishners our faith.
Doing the works of the true God,
beffing for the works to give belief.
Again, on my knees, begging, praying.
Asking for the faith I claim out loud.
asking to feel, what they feel when they pray.

Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn.

JP: Faith isn't a feeling! Sometimes we get to feel that spiritual high, but I believe that faith is more real when it's all we're hanging onto! Great poem and beautifully written. Ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

I like this very much. Questions a lot of us have asked at one time or another. If faith isn't a feeling, what is it?

Is this the poem that you referred to on your last post?  Anyway, a very good posting on Faith?   Faith came when I was dying in a hospital and I believed that I would get better and live.  Faith is believing in something even though you feel something else.  As in your poem, it is believeing in forgiveness, enlightenment, healing, love, truth, and conviction when you feel unforgiven, stupid, sick, unlovable, deceived, and unbelieving.  I sure begged for life... But I never heard a voice from Heaven or saw a bright Light...  No, I had to keep believing even though I felt all that I mentioned above.  I have read your other writings and I know you have Faith.  I am just believing that I can encourage you someway in your Faith.

Thanks Bob, faith is a tricky ideal, and a difficult wrestling opponent.

Thanks Sunny, I knew I could count on you to show me the error of my ways

Tune in next week when we discuss God's Wrath....

I think I can relate to what you're saying here. I've felt that, feel that way. Something sure seems to be lacking...on my part. Like Ellie said, I guess we feel those spiritual highs. But I think I've been in the valley for far too long.

Somehow I still write it, I know I still believe. It's that 'something' that should be inside, that's not there.

Hard thing to explain, but I think you did a great job doing it. I've been trying to explain this to my husband, and just can't.

Tell ya what...I pray for you, you pray for me.

I remember having times when I felt rather like a hypocrat going through the motions when the feeling seemed to evade me.  Now I see that as a normal happening and feel it's very important to carry on in a faithful mood until I feel intune with my actions again. That to me is having faith.
