A PRAYER

Gods of fire,
ignite my soul,
for my passion,
is but sodden ash.

Gods of wind,
breathe life into my heart,
for it gasps for air,
as it slowly suffocates.

Gods of water,
wash the pain from me,
pain of love given away,
but so selfishly desired.

Gods of earth,
ground my spirit,
bring my being back to reality,
and let me face the world.

Hear my prayer gods of power,
hear my plea and allow me,
your servant of the universe,
to live again despite the pain,
despite the sorrow, sadness and tears,
despite the hypocratic will,
to put upon my face the smile,
that my soul will never again feel.

Touch me my gods, heal me.

Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn.

I adhere to your unity with nature expressed through your poetry.  The forces of Fire, Wind, Water, and Earth have great influence upon our lives.  I hope that your soul, dispite all the pain and sorrow that life has instilled, will once again be refreshed to smile.

Such a powerful prayer is sure to be heard, my friend.

Hi JP; Lovely prayer of seeking, needing and desiring God. btw, Gods all come under the heading of ONE God, whom I serve. Bless you, JP, I hope you find that which you seek. You did a wonderful job of putting your thoughts to poem.

Thanks all for the kind words

Alle'cram:  I was wondering when someone was going to push thier personal religious beliefs on me.  I may or may not be a pagan, but if I am - that would be my religious belief, now wouldn't it?

Yes, JP, it is your choice, which I respect. No dear,  not intended to push anything off on you. That is not my place. Just offered a explaination to the difference. No harm, no foul, with me. Bless you much.

Just read your poem on the web, it broke my heart for you. Agreeing with Dreamer below, you certainly are a marveleous writter. I do hope you find peace.

JP, After reading your poem "Looking At Me" In Voices On The Web, then seeing this poem here, for one I can see you are a marvelous writer, and secondly my heart goes out to you hoping your prayers are answered. Bless you and may everyday become easier.

No problems here mates... didn't want to harsh your mellow...

As Nietzsche once said "One has to requite good and ill: but why to precisely the person who did us good or ill?"

Meaning?  to me it means that one must take issue with the good and the bad in life but it is not necessary to take issue with those who do us good or bad... (kinda like hating the sin and loving the sinner, yes?)

Okay, I've began rambling again...

I'm thinking of trying to write a poem about my days as a preacher (you didn't know I used to be a Southern Baptist preacher did you?), but am having a hard time trying to figure out the angle... any thoughts?

Honesty is the best policy. (Don Quixote)

An angle for approaching the, "Former Preacher," poem maybe to write the poem from the third person's perspective. From a God's eye view.

Just a thought.

Be sure to cue me when you post so I can read.
